Requirements for School Counseling Degree Candidates*

  1. Master's degree.
  2. Valid Texas Teacher Certificate.
  3. Two years teaching experience.
  4. TExES - School Counselor (Code 152).

Requirements for Applicants who hold master's Degree in fields other than School Counseling*

  1. Master's degree.
  2. Valid Texas Teacher Certificate.
  3. Two years teaching experience.
  4. Submit an application for graduate studies by the due dates provided by the Office of Graduate Studies & Research.
  5. Pay application fee
  6. Submit official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended.
  7. Submit scores for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS), If your academic studies are from a country where English is not the entire language.
  8. GPA 3.0 (last 60 credit hours).
  9. Interview.
  10. Statement of purpose: 700 word maximum,
  11. Three (3) letters of recommendation/nomination: 1 personal reference, 1 professional reference, and 1 nomination letter from a current professional school counselor.
  12. TExES - School Counselor (Code 152).
